The Maximum Colorful Arborescence problem: How (computationally) hard can it be?

چکیده

Given a vertex-colored arc-weighted directed acyclic graph G , the Maximum Colorful Subtree problem (or MCS ) aims at finding an arborescence of maximum weight in which no color appears more than once. The was originally introduced [1] context de novo identification metabolites by tandem mass spectrometry. However, thorough analysis initial motivation shows that formal definition should be amended, since input actually possesses extra properties, have been unexploited so far. This leads us to describe this paper precise model we call Arborescence ( MCA ), extensively study terms algorithmic complexity. In particular, show exploiting implied Color Hierarchy Graph can lead exact polynomial algorithms and approximation algorithms. We also develop Fixed-Parameter Tractable FPT for parameterized “dual parameter” ? C defined as minimum number vertices are not kept solution.

The Maximum Colorful Arborescence problem parameterized by the structure of its color hierarchy graph

Let G = (V,A) be a vertex-colored arc-weighted directed acyclic graph (DAG) rooted in some vertex r. The color hierarchy graph H(G) of G is defined as follows: V (H(G)) is the color set C of G, and H(G) has an arc from c to c if G has an arc from a vertex of color c to a vertex of color c. We study the Maximum Colorful Arborescence (MCA) problem, which takes as input a DAG G such that H(G) is a...

How Hard Can It Be: Do Citizens Think It Is Difficult to Register to Vote?

Political equality is seen as an intrinsic normative principle for the adequate functioning of a democratic republic. However, it is well documented that in the United States there are many qualified citizens who do not vote, many who do not participate in the political process due to procedural barriers that make it difficult or impossible for them to register and vote. Despite this, there is ...

Contagion : How it spreads and How it can be stopped ?

Recent events have drawn attention to the issue of contagion. Dependencies among countries, including through trade links, will cause shocks to an individual country (or group of countries) to affect other countries, often on a regional basis. Such linkages are not contagion, but an increase in cross-market linkages after a shock to one country could be contagion. Weak countries’ economic funda...
